Hirer Angti (The Diamond Ring) - Rituparno Ghosh's first Bangla/Bengali film

Proud son of a documentary filmmaker, a painter. Rituparno was born on 31 august 1963. Completed his schooling from South point high school,and economics from Jadhavpur university.

Started his career in adcertising and later made his fisrt film called Hirer angti (The diamond ring). Won National film award in 1995 for his second movie Unishe April.

Synopsis for Hirer Angti Bengali Movie:It is Mahalaya, the first day of the Debi Paksha and just before Durga Puja. The mood in the house of Ratanlal Bandyopadhyay is festive. All his sons have come, one from as far as the USA. Preparations are in full swing. Habul and Tinni the two young grandchildren are enjoying themselves. A handsome stranger called Gandharva Kumar walks into this festive atmosphere. He knows magic tricks, can speak to animals and do a thousand other things that charms Habul and Tinni.
He wears a diamond ring and Shasthicharan the local thief would do anything to get it. The ring though has other sinister implications. it is a major piece of a jigsaw puzzle that is falling in place.

For, Gandharva Kumar has come to remind Ratanlal Babu of a promise made thirty years ago - the fulfillment of that promise will mean that Ratanlal babu will have to give up all that he owns and move out of his house. The Puja celebrations will also come to a halt.

What happens next is the stuff adventure stories...

Bolo Na Tumi Aamar (2010) Bengali Movie

After the success of Saat Paake Bandha, Sujit Mondal returns with a youthful romantic comedy, Bolo Na Tumi Aamar.

Madhurima (Koel Mullick) is a career-oriented medical student while loud, happy-go-lucky Abhishek (Dev) waits tables at a pizza place. While Madhurima is the local DSP’s daughter, Abhishek is a small town boy who comes to the city seeking work. And the duo is constantly at loggerheads. Their clashes and ensuing romance are what Bolo Na Tumi Aamar is all about.
While the film was on the floors, Dev had confessed that he wasn’t too comfortable with an out and out comedy. “I feel I’m poor at comedy, but Sujitda’s faith in me boosts my confidence. Whenever the camera starts rolling, I just follow his instructions. I’ve known him for ten years now, and he’s been a great help to me,” revealed Dev.
However, director Sujit Mondal seemed impressed with his actors’ performance. “Dev and Koel are tailor-made for their characters. They have really stepped out of their shells,” he said.
Koel seemed confident about her chemistry with co-actor Dev. “Everyone appreciated our pairing in Mon Maane Na, but in this film our chemistry is even better,” she promised.
Storyline for Bolo Na Tumi Aamar Bangla Movie:
Abhishek(Dev),a pizza-delivery boy accidentally bumps into Madhurima(Koel),a meritorious medical student in North Bengal and and from that point, they are at loggerheads.Madhurima’s father decides to marry her off with a cop, Soumyadeep Sen(Tota),but Madhurima was reluctant. Abhishek helps Madhurima and tells Soumyadeep that he loves her. Soumyadeep does call off marriage but,adding to trouble bought a flat for Abhi-Madhurima,get them married off and force them to stay in that flat together.Now,you know what to expect.After initial fighting, Abhishek and Madhurima fall for each other but can only express that at the end after some unnecessary fighting and crying.

Playwright-director-actor Srijit Mukherjee is ready with his latest cinematic venture Autograph, which is likely to hit the theaters in September 2010. Srijit has a rich treasure of experience in professional Bengali and English stage theaters.

The director, who is an economist by education, is very passionate about acting and that may be because of his parents, who were theater actors. According to the director, Autograph is an attempt to pay tribute to Satyajit Ray’s movie Nayak,which starred the legendary Uttam Kumar and Sharmila Tagore.

Mahendra Soni and Shrikant Mohta of Shree Venkatesh Films have produced the movie, which stars renowned actor, Prosenjit Chatterjee, actress Nandana Sen and Indraneil Sengupta. Autograph is a moving tale of three people, one of whom is a young aspiring director, who longs to remake Nayak.
The plot of the much-awaited movie revolves around the three characters: a young director, a theater actress and a superstar and how their life changes forever after coming together during the process of making the movie.

Story line for Bangla movie Amanush:
The story of Amanush, a remake of K Selvaraghavan’s 2003 Tamil superhit Kaadhal Kondein, revolves around Binod (Soham) who grows up in a church under the care of a Father in an orphanage in North Bengal (where else!). Though an introvert, Binod is a genius. He is sent to a posh engineering college in Kolkata, where he finds himself completely out of place until one day he solves the toughest mathematics problem ever and wins the attention of the most beautiful girl in the class, Riya (Srabanti). A friendship develops between the two. Problem begins when Riya falls for Aditya (Rehan) — a cool dude from the same class. Binod turns green with envy and soon, one realises that the raging psychotic killer in him can go to every length to ensure that he stays with Riya forever.

Review of Amanush Bengali Movie:
Oh my love, Jeet Gannguli has done it again — giving the much-needed hype that Amanush needed when pitted against another big budget release of the week. With regional music channels and FM stations airing the melodious numbers and posters screaming for attention from every nook and corner of the city, there was exicitement galore surrounding this film.

Not surprising is the fact that even the name of the protagonist hasn’t been changed in this Bengali remake. Dhanush was Vinod in Kaadhal Kondein and Soham is Binod (he has a Bengali surname though). Tollywood’s film-makers, by now, are clear about one thing that with this tried and tested formula, they can probably never go wrong.

This technically sound film turns into a real visual treat at times. The songs were well picturised, especially the rain song Hai rama and Du chokher oi jhiler (which was shot in Mauritius). The audience broke into whistles as soon as they heard numbers like Oh my love and Monta kore uru uru. Kumud Verma’s (of Bolona Tumi Amar fame) cinematography also deserves a special mention.

When it comes to acting, Soham is a real revelation. It is a treat watching him play an underdog for which he also gathers complete sympathy from the crowd. The actor has some calibre to pull off a scene (or the film in this case) all by himself. He can convincingly play the sweet, ugly and psychotic killer — at the same time and without overdoing it. His character appears more like that of SRK from Darr when his obsession gets the better of him and he begin to falter with words. Srabanti, who is more of an eye candy, convincingly plays Riya too. The supporting cast (especially Prasun) too plays their part well. But, model-turned-actor Rehan needs more grooming if he is serious about a career in films. Good looks alone will not be of much help to him.

Amanush also makes a bold attempt at highlighting the theme of child abuse and molestation. This is certainly something new in the Bengali commercial cinema format. Since Amanush is a remake of a Tamil film that relies heavily on violence, it’s only natural that the Bengali remake will also be very high on action. Wonder if the Bengali audience is ready to take so much of violence on screen!

And finally, a word on the director. Considering that this is Rajib’s second film, the director has told a gripping story.

Shukno Lanka (2010) Bengali/Bangla Movie Songs HQ

Shukno Lanka is a journey about forgotten dreams. It is a story of fears, reconciliation and finally of living the magic called life. Joy Sundar Sen is a popular award-winning film director. He meets Isabella a young European actress in Berlin. Cutting across divides of age and culture, Isabella and Sen Share a bond of respect and understanding. At a book-store in Berlin, Sen and Isabella chance upon an anthology of short stories by the Indian film maker Ritwik Ghatak. As he browses through the book, one of the stories - Paraspathar (The Philosopher’s Stone) begins to resonate in his mind. It is a story of a man who seems to have hit upon a magic formula to bring people to life back from death. Faced with his own morality, brought more sharply into relief by the effervescent youth of Isabella, Sen decides that Paraspathar is going to be his next film.
Chinu Nandy is a junior artiste who has survived in an unforgiving industry. Middle aged, Nandy has been playing bit parts in movies for several decades. Over the course of time, Nandy has learned to accept his fate, hoping that one day he could add as much flavour to movies as dry red chillies would to a curry. So when Sen, back from his grand international success decides to cast Nandy to play the lead role in Paraspathar, he is shocked and frightened to realize a strange unimagined path that destiny seems to open for him. But the path is not an unmitigated clear way to a dream.

Chinu’s humble stance on life slowly begins to rub off on those around him with surprising results. At the last minute the producer of Paraspathar decides to pull the disappearing act. What happens next is what Shukno Lanka is all about.
