Bolo Na Tumi Aamar (2010) Bengali Movie

After the success of Saat Paake Bandha, Sujit Mondal returns with a youthful romantic comedy, Bolo Na Tumi Aamar.

Madhurima (Koel Mullick) is a career-oriented medical student while loud, happy-go-lucky Abhishek (Dev) waits tables at a pizza place. While Madhurima is the local DSP’s daughter, Abhishek is a small town boy who comes to the city seeking work. And the duo is constantly at loggerheads. Their clashes and ensuing romance are what Bolo Na Tumi Aamar is all about.
While the film was on the floors, Dev had confessed that he wasn’t too comfortable with an out and out comedy. “I feel I’m poor at comedy, but Sujitda’s faith in me boosts my confidence. Whenever the camera starts rolling, I just follow his instructions. I’ve known him for ten years now, and he’s been a great help to me,” revealed Dev.
However, director Sujit Mondal seemed impressed with his actors’ performance. “Dev and Koel are tailor-made for their characters. They have really stepped out of their shells,” he said.
Koel seemed confident about her chemistry with co-actor Dev. “Everyone appreciated our pairing in Mon Maane Na, but in this film our chemistry is even better,” she promised.

Amanush (2010) Bengali Movie DVD

Story line for Bangla movie Amanush:
The story of Amanush, a remake of K Selvaraghavan’s 2003 Tamil superhit Kaadhal Kondein, revolves around Binod (Soham) who grows up in a church under the care of a Father in an orphanage in North Bengal (where else!). Though an introvert, Binod is a genius. He is sent to a posh engineering college in Kolkata, where he finds himself completely out of place until one day he solves the toughest mathematics problem ever and wins the attention of the most beautiful girl in the class, Riya (Srabanti). A friendship develops between the two. Problem begins when Riya falls for Aditya (Rehan) — a cool dude from the same class. Binod turns green with envy and soon, one realises that the raging psychotic killer in him can go to every length to ensure that he stays with Riya forever.

Review of Amanush Bengali Movie:
Oh my love, Jeet Gannguli has done it again — giving the much-needed hype that Amanush needed when pitted against another big budget release of the week. With regional music channels and FM stations airing the melodious numbers and posters screaming for attention from every nook and corner of the city, there was exicitement galore surrounding this film.

The story of Amanush, a remake of K Selvaraghavan’s 2003 Tamil superhit Kaadhal Kondein, revolves around Binod (Soham) who grows up in a church under the care of a Father in an orphanage in North Bengal (where else!). Not surprising is the fact that even the name of the protagonist hasn’t been changed in this Bengali remake. Dhanush was Vinod in Kaadhal Kondein and Soham is Binod (he has a Bengali surname though). Tollywood’s film-makers, by now, are clear about one thing that with this tried and tested formula, they can probably never go wrong.

This technically sound film turns into a real visual treat at times. The songs were well picturised, especially the rain song Hai rama and Du chokher oi jhiler (which was shot in Mauritius). The audience broke into whistles as soon as they heard numbers like Oh my love and Monta kore uru uru. Kumud Verma’s (of Bolona Tumi Amar fame) cinematography also deserves a special mention.

When it comes to acting, Soham is a real revelation. It is a treat watching him play an underdog for which he also gathers complete sympathy from the crowd. The actor has some calibre to pull off a scene (or the film in this case) all by himself. He can convincingly play the sweet, ugly and psychotic killer — at the same time and without overdoing it. His character appears more like that of SRK from Darr when his obsession gets the better of him and he begin to falter with words. Srabanti, who is more of an eye candy, convincingly plays Riya too. The supporting cast (especially Prasun) too plays their part well. But, model-turned-actor Rehan needs more grooming if he is serious about a career in films. Good looks alone will not be of much help to him.

Amanush also makes a bold attempt at highlighting the theme of child abuse and molestation. This is certainly something new in the Bengali commercial cinema format. Since Amanush is a remake of a Tamil film that relies heavily on violence, it’s only natural that the Bengali remake will also be very high on action. Wonder if the Bengali audience is ready to take so much of violence on screen!

And finally, a word on the director. Considering that this is Rajib’s second film, the director has told a gripping story.

Hitlist (2009) Bengali Movie

Hitlist Bengali Movie information:
Sandip Ray has a reasonably good grasp over action and somewhat on suspense. His venture into the thriller genre raised expectations firstly because it is Sandip and secondly because Bengali mainstream suffers from a perennial famine of suspense thrillers. The press handout claimed the film “is a new age psychological thriller” set against the backdrop of an ad agency.
A dispute arises between four executives of the firm, comprised of Jayanto, Shubhodeep, Kamalika and Ranen on the one hand and Ronojoy on the other. Ronojoy voices his anger against the other four earning under-the-table money by selling excellent concepts to a rival agency, at the cost of the reputation and goodwill of their own agency, unknown to the trusting owner of the agency. A heated argument ensues at a drinking party and Ronojoy is accidentally killed by one of them. They make it look like an accident and the case is closed. Ronojoy’s widow Anindita, is inducted into the firm. What happens then makes for the thrills and the suspense.

Madly Bangalee a Bengali movie by Anjan Dutta (2009)

Director – Anjan Dutta
Music by – Neel Dutta
Produced By – Namit Bajoriya
Co- Produced By – Kalyan Sarkar

Cast- New comers in lead role – Kanti as Pablo, Anubroto as Benji, Tanaji as Neon, and Sumeet as Baaji. In addition, female new comers are Rosni as Joy and Anushuya as Tanya. Other co actors are Anjan Dutt, Shaswato Chatterji, Shiddhrto Chatterji, Biswajit Chokraborty, and so one.

The story is about a pack of four rock crazy boys – Pablo, Baaji, Neon, Benji – and their dream of forming a Bangla rock band ‘Madly Bangalee’ with a crazy self-proclaimed manager in Sam and Bobby’s garage as their sole practice place.

1. Pablo, the son of estranged parents was the foremost in forming this band but his complex ego seemed to be the main obstacle in its evolution.
2. Baaji, a slum dweller with a brother in Sultan getting arrested for his probable links in the Bombay blast, always suffered from the complex of being a Muslim but was made wise of the aspect of religion in art by Sam in one of the most moving scenes of the film.

3. Neon’s father, an unemployed electrician and an alcoholic had a wife cherishing for a role in group theatres amid her household chores and a salaried job. Thus squabbles were the order for the day for Neon who found the only solace in strumming the base for the band when not indulging himself in drugs.

4. Benji, the most confused of the lot seemed to bring in trouble in the form of his affairs with his near adult girlfriend Joy, the daughter of a widow mother who while on the one hand was afraid of losing respect by her daughter’s misbehaviours but ironically didn’t found anything wrong in maintaining a steady relationship with an unmarried man.

Thus the four used to vent their musical passion inside the four walls of the garage but that too seemed to be under threat of being bulldozed by the local goon Babu when a curious turn of events turned the table in the band’s favour. As the band was gradually taking shape under the guidance of Sam the later’s altruistic attitude was steadily getting on the nerves of the rest. So as the day of their first stage performace arrived there arose several unforseen events in between. Tania, oscillating between her decision of pursuing career in foreign land and continuing being the lead vocalist of the group, seemed to opt for the former and thus left the band in the eleventh hour and this again brought Pablo and Sam in a confontration forcing Pablo’s exit thus cripling the band completely. Thus it remained to be seen whether the ego clashes between Sam and Pablo gets the better of them or whether they could work out their differences and put up the performance that the band desperately needed.

In between this musical extravaganza the sub-plots as arranged by Anjan Dutt are the snippets of the Bengali lifestyle which delightfully encompasses the whole social strata and produces a fine show of support acting from the veteran brigade of Biswajit Chakrabarty, Saswata Chatterjee, Sudipa Basu, Pijush and Aparajita Auddy. Supriya Devi makes one of her rare appearances in this picture who fits to her role just perfectly while Lew Hilt as the mechanic Bobby also deserves applause in his role. But the best performance seems to come from the spontaneous dialogues of Chandan Sen as the mastan Babu and Anjan Dutt is refreshingly fascinating in his characterization of Sam. As to the new faces, Anushuya promises to have more potentials in store for the future with Tanaji, Roshni and Sumeet closely following while Anubrata and Kanti sometimes overacted a bit.

Thus the whole show does justice to the tagline ‘music, dosti and madness’ and is sure to keep the creative Calcutta crowd rocking with this first ever homage to the passion called rock.

FALTU Bengali Movie DVD Download

An Arindam Chaudhuri presentation with Planman Motion Pictures, FALTU is a Bengali movie - an Anjan Das film. Download and enjoy this Bangla movie DVD.

Faltu Bengali Movie Synopsis:
A young man of eighteen, Faltu is a boy without a beginning. He stumbles upon this truth when the census officials question him about his parentage.

He had grown up as an orphan in Ranirghat, a tiny hamlet tucked in the district of Murshidabad. He had heard that his mother was an insane woman who had come to live in Ranirghat as a waif. After giving him birth, Faltu’s mother passed away as soon as the child breathed life. However he had no idea who his father was.

The census official’s innocuous query brings about turmoil in the life of this otherwise reckless boy. He is haunted by the ghosts of an unknown past and is desperate to know about who his father is. In this odyssey, he opens up a Pandora’s box. A head-less hydra emerges from the past and the combined guilt of those sinners who outraged the modesty of Faltu’s mother catch up with each individual. They are all tormented by the thought that anyone of them could be Faltu’s father.

The tables have turned now. As Faltu continues his relentless pursuit, the narrative traces the morality of a society under duress. The patriarchal hegemony is attacked frontally and torn asunder.

Through a dramatic turn of events, destiny plays its final irony. This hapless kid saves these very same people who has denied Faltu his past, during a deluge that devastates Ranirghat. The bus that Faltu drives through the floods becomes emblematic like Noah’s ark. Faltu is the saviour for these ravaged souls in purgatory. He seems to expiate for the sins of these men, anyone of whom could be his biological father.

Faltu is a moral fable that is woven around a scintillating narrative infused with myriad moments fraught with dramatic tensions. On the surface level is a story of a raking up of the past. The deeper layers probe the darkness of the human heart.
